Most MOW go much longer than that The Digimon Kaiser's arc which is the MOW format, was about as long as Hunter's. Not sure why you were expecting it to go past MOW. The Main plot goes very slowly that you don't notice it. (From ep 2 onwards.)Īs with every other MOW anime you can't go watch ep 1 and then the final ep. As for None of the episodes really added anything. Other side note: I don't know if Japan has any gender-related social issues, but I did really think that this show barely having any important female characters was a strange move. I guess Hunters isn't bad, I don't feel like I'm wasting my time watching this, but I just have no idea what made them make this so different from other seasons' concepts. Is there any rhyme or reason to it? This is just all over the place.Īnyway, I digress. Side note: I have no idea what is up with the "power levels" in Xros Wars. Digimon has always focused on at least three kids, so the fact that this is basically just the Tagiru and Gumdramon show, somewhat guest starring Yuu and Taiki is pretty limiting. And I don't like that Tagiru is essentially the only character. The thematic connection is only barely existent, and is entirely dependent on the Digimon Xroses, which are totally artificial here and feel much less valued than they were in seasons 1 and 2. Yuu feels like he should be explored much more, considering his limited role in season 2 (not entirely unlike how Takeru and Hikari got some extra development in Adventure 02). I almost feel like he's only here to "connect" the seasons so that they could justify this as Xros Wars. It's weird to me that Taiki is barely an important character, he's more background in the way that the Adventure kids were in 02. I'm still fairly early in, but I've read that it doesn't change much or even get very far in terms of.anything. This probably should have been an individual season. Where seasons 1 and 2 felt nicely related, this season feels very out of place. There's something about it that just doesn't feel like Digimon.Īnd now I'm watching Hunters in its original Japanese, and this feels very weird (entertaining, somewhat). Neither, though, do I think is any better than any of the other seasons of Digimon. There was certainly something off about them, and something that didn't feel like it was attributable to it just being a dub.
